The MAG reviews are piling up and they are pretty favorable. I think at times they nit pick too much but I might be slightly biased for the game (I edit a site called MAG Game Guide, if you didn't know).

My key takeaway though is that almost all the reviewers are sold on the game's potential. Almost unanimously they agree, this game is doing something different and is going about it in the right away. That ain't easy.

Take PSXtreme for example, they gave it 8.3/10. They spotted some problems, but raved about the game's future.

I can’t imagine what Zipper could do; the sky really might be the limit. 256 players isn’t the selling point; the experience is, and while the overall score may not seem too impressive, I couldn’t even begin to assign a score to this game’s potential.

Says Ars Technica, flawed but unique.

MAG is a flawed experience, which is unfortunate considering the stiff competition it is already facing from Modern Warfare 2 and will soon face from Battlefield Bad Company 2. It's hard to overlook the inconvenience of being kicked back out to the main menu at the end of every match, or not to notice the way your gun skips a few frames of animation to seemingly teleport to the iron sights view.

That doesn't mean the game is not fun. It's hard not to smile the first time you airdrop back into a match, gliding your parachute towards an objective while hundreds of people scurry below you, or feel a smug sense of self-satisfaction as your squad quickly takes an objective. MAG is also surprising addictive because of the combination of its skill tree and loadout mechanics. MAG has been compared to many other games, but it's the feeling of being just one soldier in a greater conflict, just trying to complete your objectives and stay alive, that truly makes it special.

And Joystiq complimented it for being polished and novel.

MAG is an incredibly polished and -- when teamwork prevails -- incredibly satisfying multiplayer shooter which deserves the consideration of every PS3 owner. Though it has the propensity for frustration when communication between squadmates breaks down, it still offers a brand new experience for the first-person shooter genre; an experience I'm excited to watch develop from the ground floor.

Awesome!

So far players are giving it a 8.4 rating on metacritic.
