One of the most frequent gripes since the release of MAG relates to faction balancing. We can't count the number of times we've heard pleas SVER is overpowered.

Well, you're cries for help have been answered. Zipper is making changes to the faction strengths that will affection the game "quite noticeably."

Jeremy Dunham, Community Manager at Zipper, made these statements deep in the comment section on the official Playstation blog.

We are always working on the balancing for all three factions — this is a job that will never truly be done since there are so many contributing factors thanks to online play, new strategies, creative exploits, etc. Don’t expect us to stop looking for things to adjust for a long, long time.

Anytime there’s the an overwhelming perception that there’s a balancing issue that needs to be addressed, we’re committed to looking into what the facts are to determine what needs to be adjusted, followed by applying those (or not adjusting things at all depending on what we find) as soon as we can.

Point in fact, our next few in-game updates are going to sport a number of significant balancing adjustments that should impact the game quite noticeably regardless of who you play as.

Kind of interesting the way they announced this. They did it in a manner as quiet as possible.

But the plans are pretty clear, adjustments to balance the game are coming in future patches.

How much do you guys on the site feel this is an issue?

Nice snooping

I have to commemorate you for finding this deep down in the comments. And I'm glad they're fixing this. S.V.E.R. players probably think this is the easiest game in the world.

Balancing

I think that the game will naturally balance itself out eventually.  The maps have advantages for all factions in various battle modes but although there are times when I feel that SVER pressed their 2 shot kills for all weapons button, I don't have any hard evidence on it.  They are probably just very good guys getting headshots.  I think all the hardcore beta players migrated to SVER and they just got a jump on us.  My clan is actually doing quite well.  We've got more wins than losses and we almost always got someone on the mvp board.  Whatever they patch, I hope All factions don't suffer from weapon suppresion.  I've picked up weapons from enemies I've shot down and aside from SVER's LMG having better stability and their SMG more poweful at long range,  nothing really gave me the WOW factor. Raven has a nice F90 and I still like our weapons just fine.  It all boils down to teamwork.  Get in a clan, get some tactics, and you'll start to win more.  You'll definately have more fun.  If MAG wasn't challenging, alot of us would not have paid $60 bucks for it.

Yeah we are!

I will agree with KG. This whole misconception of S.V.E.R. being overpowered is honestly a bit of a joke to me. Like I have said before, yes their maps are easier to defend, but that's where teamwork comes in. The only gun in this game that is overpowered is all the PMC's LMG's. They said they were going to limit this down a bit, not to noticeable, but enough that it gives the assault guys a slightly better chance. Other than that, get with a solid clan that knows what they are doing, and you will do fine. Communication is key, bickering is for pansies, its a game people.

Exploits

I don't think, personally, the LMGs are overpowered.  I do believe there are some egregious exploits on the SVER sabotage map.  There's crates/planks they can hide behind and shoot through, but you cannot shoot them back.  Also, they can flip the objectives from behind the outer wall... that's pretty obvious.  I'm happy that Zipper is planning on checking into the facts and doing something about it.  I'm sure there's exploits on the Raven and Valor maps, but I'm not usually interested in looking for them.

Regardless, I still am of the belief that a good team will kick ass on any may at any time regardless of the inbalances.

@ Heavenly

Agreed. I was just pointing out that the LMG's are slightly overpowered, but more importantly the fact that S.V.E.R. and Raven on both their Acquisition Maps as well as S.V.E.R. on Sabotage can defuse the objective or an explosive from the back of the gate or objective. Those va-jay-jay's should have to come outside and defuse it like men and women so we can murder their asses. Zipper has already said a patch fixing that and limiting the LMG's a slight amount would be coming.

I love the fact that when you

I love the fact that when you fight tooth & nail to get to a triple A hold O for like 5 seconds to arm it, praying nobody cuts you down, finally after an eternity arm it, get shot defending it, and the enemy walks up to the charge and touches it and its disarmed.  Happened alot yesterday. Last I looked, disarming explosives are supposed to have a delay, too.  Not to mention that zipper must have he he'd about putting our re supply room on sabo in C right inside the FRONT DOOR! so people could run in there and throw explosives at you all day.

I wish they would change...

When you plant charges at C in Sabotage and you lose XP for all the friendlies you kill defending it when it blows up... LOL  I lost like 40 XP the other day, my jaw hit the floor.
